We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jessica Lewis. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Creating a community for Baltimore moms and watching my son grow and flourish.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Jessica Lewis and I am a Content Creator. I recommend the best skincare brands/products as well as products and brands for moms to use for their kids. I am also the Social Media Manager for a local nonprofit that transforms the lives of women survivors. Now, my ultimate goal is to connect moms worldwide to mental health and wellness resources. A mom in good mental health can be the best for her family.
What’s interesting about my story is that I originally believed I would be a fashion writer/editor for a big magazine like Elle or Essence, but my life didn’t pan out that way. I’ve had to create my own opportunities through content creation and blogging. Right now my focus is on building my social club + community for moms. Motherhood can be extremely isolating so creating a safe place for women in Baltimore to unwind and socialize with other moms is so important to me.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Creative, inquisitive, nerdy, unfiltered and a bright light that can intimidate those who haven’t stepped into their own light.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Probably the fear of being seen. Although I create content, if I could have it my way, I would be off the grid (well kinda) lol social media can be a negative place with tons of opinions, so putting myself in front of tons of people is challenging at times.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Bringing people together, encouraging and helping people reach their fullest potential. They would probably also say I keep others grounded, but my advice can be blunt and totally honest.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
That we are more alike than we think. Humans go through pretty much the same life experiences, just in different ways. Also our differences is what makes us unique and if we appreciated differences more, we would be able to work together with new perspectives. Instead, we are forcing everyone to have the same beliefs, opinions and standards.
