An Inspired Chat with Jaime Auburger of Towson

We recently had the chance to connect with Jaime Auburger and have shared our conversation below.

Good morning Jaime, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What are you chasing, and what would happen if you stopped?
I’m chasing peace of mind and have a whole checklist of things I do to attempt to reach that stat. Moving my body, being creative, writing a daily gratitude list, and putting my energy into the things and people that matter to me. If I stopped I would be a much more discontent person and those closest to me would have to deal with it. I spend a lot of time in my head and the goal is to make it a nice place to be!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi I’m Jaime, the maker behind Mama Noshes Cookies. I studied painting in college, then got a job as a lighting consultant while continuing to make art. In 2020 I had my first child and made the choice to leave my corporate job to be with her full time. Like many others I picked up a few new hobbies during the pandemic including decorating sugar cookies. Since then I’ve advanced my skill set, gained a few loyal customers, and continue to grow!

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was a kid with big feelings who was often overwhelmed by the world around her. I was expressive and goofy, and looking for ways to escape into my imagination. I didn’t want to sit still or do what I was told. Feeling like I was too much taught me to make myself smaller. It’s been a process to unlearn those self narratives.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
In the last few years I’ve learned the true meaning of vulnerability. I know that pain shared is pain lessened. I care less about what others might think of me, that’s none of my business. If I’m able to share openly and honestly about what I’m going through then maybe I can help someone going through something similar feel less alone. Humans thrive on connection and the ability to create those connections feels pretty powerful.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
The Jewish principle of Tikkun Olam or “Repairing the world” is very important to me and one I try to model for my children. When we see trash at the park we throw it away, if someone needs help and we’re able to do so we help them. In my experience you get back what you put out so I work really hard to project kindness and compassion.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop doubting myself and just be where my feet are instead of overthinking the past or worrying about the future.
