We’re looking forward to introducing you to Jaida Scarborough . Check out our conversation below.
Jaida , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
What’s bringing me joy right now is working out at the gym. I enjoy being there and it allows me to release anything I may have building up or lingering. After each workout, I feel refreshed and ready for a new challenge whether that be in my personal life or work life.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
JS Media is a full-service media brand that brings your moments to life through 360 photo booth experiences, photography, and videography. From red carpets to birthday parties, we specialize in capturing every vibe, every detail, and every angle. When you want your event to stand out, we’re the team that makes it happen. We stand out by paying attention to details and listening to our clients.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My mom taught me the most about work. She’s been working hard since before I can remember. She always worked hard and knew that nothing in life was free. I was raised on the mindset of working for what you have and being responsible for yourself. She is still a role model for me and will remain a strong factor in why I continue to ensure JS Media has those standards.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There were times of discouragement and feeling like I wasn’t talented enough to be in this field. However, the more I put myself out there and continued to be involved in current events and word of mouth, I began to feel a confidence and belonging. I’ve met so many interesting people including other photographer and videographers that have shown so much love. It helped me grow.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Being true to myself. Not allowing negativity to linger or become part of who I am. Showing my character by always showing up when needed and a listening ear when required.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
I definitely would remain persistent in my path. Simply because my work is not defined by getting praises by others. I work consistently for myself and who I want to see when I look in the mirror. Although, I may fall short and that’s okay, it is still up to me to fight the mental stumps and get back to business. My work wouldn’t be a passion if I only did it for approvals.
