We’re looking forward to introducing you to Amanda Daubert. Check out our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What are you most proud of building — that nobody sees?
Something that I’m proud of building, that nobody sees – beyond my close friends and family, is a life that my younger-self would be proud of. Front Rail Photography was truly created out of the combined passions of my teenage-self, music and photography. There are several times where I take a pause to appreciate the moments I find myself in, and think “If 13 year-old me could see this right now, she would think this is awesome.”
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Amanda Daubert, Owner of Front Rail Photography – a music and events photography business based in Maryland. Our team provides photo and video coverage for concerts and special events, along with media team management of festivals. While photography, even concert photography, is a fairly popular business – I feel what truly sets our team apart is our love for everything that comes along with the job. From the amazing people we meet, to the experiences that happen around us while we work, we love what we do and we’re hopeful it shows in what we deliver.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband, who now works alongside of me, has always been my biggest supporter…and is honestly the reason Front Rail Photography is even a “thing.” After I started taking my camera to shows, and having an amazing time, he very seriously looked at me and said “Why don’t you make this a “thing,” and start a business.” After a quick brainstorming session with our daughter, we had a name, a social media account, and we quickly turned what seemed like a crazy unattainable dream into something real.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Probably…”You’re not going to believe this!” But in all seriousness, I would tell my younger self that she is so much stronger than she thinks. That all of the hard times are teaching her valuable lessons that are going to mold her into the woman that she becomes. I would tell her that silly boy she met at a pool party at age 14 will become the love of her life, so ignore all of the doubters. And I would tell her that Stephan Jenkins (from her favorite band Third Eye Blind) will know her name…so try not to freak out!
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is 100% the real me! I am a mix of goofy, organized, fun, controlling, spontaneous, and intentional. I try to have fun in every moment. And I am never scared of telling people that I love them!
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
I tap dance to work, at work, and on the way home from work! If you don’t enjoy what you do…what’s the point? One of the main reasons why I do this job is because it brings me so much joy.
