We recently had the chance to connect with Alma Reyes Villagran and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Alma, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
“The first 90 minutes of my day are really centered around setting the tone for everything that follows. I start with prayer and a short Bible study while I have my morning coffee — it helps me focus, reflect, and start the day with gratitude. After that, I get my kids ready for school, make breakfast, and make sure everyone is set for the day before I jump into work or appointments.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Alma Reyes, and I’m a bilingual Realtor with eXp Realty. I’ve been in real estate for over six years now, helping families buy, sell, and invest in homes — and I’m also an investor myself. What makes my work truly special is that many of my clients come from referrals and personal relationships. I’m passionate about guiding families — especially in the Latino community — who have been told ‘no’ before, helping them achieve the dream of homeownership.
Beyond real estate, faith and family are at the heart of everything I do. I serve in my church community, help organize events that support immigrant families, and love mentoring new agents who want to grow in this business with purpose. Right now, I’m focused on expanding my brand through social media and YouTube to educate more first-time buyers and investors, while also empowering other entrepreneurs to build wealth through real estate.”
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
“One of my earliest memories of feeling powerful was the first time I made $20,000 on a single real estate deal. That moment opened my eyes — I realized I was capable of so much more than I ever imagined. It wasn’t just about the money, it was about understanding my potential and seeing how far faith, hard work, and consistency could take me. From that point on, I knew I could build something bigger, not just for myself but for my family and community.”
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
“The fear that’s held me back the most has been the fear of failure — and honestly, insecurity. I used to be afraid of being rejected or made fun of, of putting myself out there and not being taken seriously. For a long time, I let that fear make me play small. But through faith and experience, I learned that rejection doesn’t define my worth — it shapes my growth. Every time I pushed past that fear, I discovered a stronger version of myself. Now I see those moments as part of becoming who God called me to be.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
A value I protect at all costs is keeping God at the center of my life, honoring my family, and staying humble no matter how hard things get. My faith keeps me grounded, my family gives me purpose, and humility reminds me that everything I have is a blessing. No matter what season I’m in, I try to lead with gratitude and stay true to those principles.”
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left, I would stop worrying about what people think and stop trying to fit in or wait for the perfect time. I would stop seeking the approval of others before starting a project or following a dream. I’d focus on living with purpose — spending more time with my family, growing closer to God, and helping others without fear or hesitation. Life is too short to hold back when God has already given me everything I need to make an impact.
