Exploring Life & Business with Simone Kirnon of Made Official Brow Artistry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Simone Kirnon

Hi Simone, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started in 2015 when I was a broke college student with a deep love for art. That passion soon transitioned into the beginning of my career as a makeup artist. I started small, doing makeup for other girls in my dorm and charging just $15-$20 per session. My sister bought me my first travel-sized brush set, and from there, I never looked back.

I honed my skills over time and became a trusted makeup artist for weddings, fashion shows, and other events. But then came a pivotal moment—a shift where I realized that, while I still loved makeup, my role had evolved. I found myself drawn to brows, a passion I’d had since high school (despite the questionable trends back then). I knew this was my calling.

In 2021, I took my first microblading course, and the following year, I added lamination to my skill set. I spent the next few years perfecting my craft in my first suite in Pikesville, later transitioning back to a home studio. Now, I’m proud to have opened my second location, a new suite in Lanham, MD, after completing advanced training in various microshading techniques.

This journey has been life-changing. I’ve always stayed focused on my vision and committed to being a lifelong student in this ever-evolving industry.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nothing worth having comes easy. One of many challenges I still face is staying on top of trends while also finding ways to set myself apart. I’ve always believed that is what I bring to the table is different—special, even—but figuring out how to showcase that in a world driven by social media has been an ongoing struggle. It’s a constant effort to prove yourself and your talents while balancing everything else.

Running a business came with its own set of challenges, from learning the ins and outs to securing funding—it’s been a journey, to say the least. My time working in the real estate world gave me valuable insight, as I am consistently surrounded by entrepreneurial greatness. Every hill and valley taught me lessons that I carry with me today.

If I were to offer advice to anyone starting a new business venture, especially in the beauty industry, it would be three things:

1. What’s meant for you will never miss you.

2. Stay focused—you’re not missing out.

3. Refocus your energy. Use setbacks and struggles as fuel to keep going.

And remember: if everything’s not okay yet, it just means you’re not done. It’s not over!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success as the feeling of being “full”—a deep sense of contentment that comes from aligning your actions with your values and achieving milestones that resonate with your life goals. It’s about being able to provide for yourself, your family, and those you care about, while staying true to what matters most to you.

Success isn’t just about material achievements; it’s about growth, balance, and impact. It’s the joy of seeing your hard work create opportunities for yourself and others, the pride of overcoming challenges, and the peace that comes from knowing you’re walking in your purpose.

Ultimately, success is deeply personal. For me, it’s about creating a meaningful legacy, inspiring others through my journey, and finding fulfillment in both the big wins and the everyday moments.
