Rising Stars: Meet Rayshel McG

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rayshel McG.

Rayshel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi! My name is Rayshel, Nail Artist in Baltimore, MD and thank you for the opportunity to share my story. I started my journey in 2018 after attending and completing an accredited Nail Institute, where I received my Nail Technician Certification. Not too long after graduating with my certification, I sat for the Maryland State Board; obtaining my Nail Technician License! I was so thrilled! I knew that after receiving my license, I wanted to do more! So what did I do!? I took a leap of faith, literally! I had been working a full-time job at the time; waking up as early as 5:00 AM to practice and perfect my craft before attending my job. As time went on, I began to see the progress and the growth within my artistry. After 1 year (2019) of being a Licensed Nail Artist, I left my full-time job and took on entrepreneurship full time! I started out as a Home Based Nail Technician, and was fortunate enough to have my friends and family support me; event if it meant to travel at times lol. There was nothing I couldn’t do; I knew my ultimate goal was to become such a respectable and amazing artist, AND I DID! After 2 years of hard work and consistency, I was blessed to move into my own private nail studio, located in Linthicum, MD. Has it been easy or a walk in the park!? Absolutely not, but it has all been so worth it! I love waking up every day to do something I love and that I am most passionate about. The long days and nights of endless practice and dedication has truly paid off and blessed me in more ways than others!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve dealt with many struggles, especially early on in my career. Having slow days, or days when I wouldn’t have clients at all.

As an artist, being in your own head could be a struggle as well. And for me, that was something I struggle with for so long. Thinking a lot and being hard on myself, when in all actuality I was doing amazing.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Nail Artist, specializing in acrylic enhancements and nail art! Ever since I could remember from being in school, Art was always one of my favorite subjects lol. I’m most proud of my drawling skills, they’ve definitely progressed over the course of 3 years. It’s still shocking to me at times that I can draw things other than stick figures lol!

What sets me apart from others is my creativeness, professional, my aura overall.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that Baltimore is on the rise when it comes to searching for new talents. We have great music, and we can’t forget the food! I’m a huge seafood lover, and I love Baltimore’s Seafood.
