Rising Stars: Meet Lady Blu

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lady Blu.

Hi Lady Blu, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
In 2015, I started attending “YouTube University” with a major in Make-up/Cosmetology. LOL Honestly, I needed a new creative outlet. A few years later, I got into modeling (plus-size model) and my love for make-up became an asset in that world until this day. One day at a fashion show, a young lady Make-up Artist canceled at the last minute, and you know that moment in movies and T.V. shows when someone yells, “Is there a doctor in the house?!”. And the whole room turns and looks at the doctor… Yeah that was me. One let’s Thank God that I actually thought about bringing out my make-up kit and two a HUGE Thank you to the people that called me out and suggested that I help this young lady out. I did her make-up and she absolutely loved it! Now looking back, it wasn’t my best work, but it lit a spark in that has yet to go out.

As my love for make-up grew, along with my client list, so did my love for the supplies needed to apply make-up. Then one day, I sat back and thought about how I wanted cute and great quality make-up brushes and how I know there’s other people who want the exact same thing. Especially, brushes that came with their own bag, So 1626 Beauty was born.

In the midst of 2015 to 2017, I just became TIRED, tired of not fully accepting myself and not living the way I wanted. I just truly wanted to be the change I wanted to see. So I started pursuing my career as model. I knew there were way more women who look and related to how I looked, shopped and felt then what is shown to society everyday. So Lady Blu the model was born.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No road is ever smooth, even when you’re assisted the whole way. Some challenges that have come along the way, marketing and promotion. You know? I have the product, the website, the legal stuff, but just a few customers. I do have loyal and loving customers and are very grateful for them! The other challenge is staying motivated during the “dry times”, it’s easy to fall off the consistency bandwagon. You start to allow the distractions to come in.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
