Rising Stars: Meet Jessica Rowe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Rowe.

Hi Jessica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was born with the helping gene. It’s genuinely in me to help others in the capacity in which I am able. Ten years ago, I planned my very first wedding! One of my best friends asked me to help her plan her wedding. It was my utmost honor to deliver on her request. I helped her plan from beginning to end. Every detail was discussed, from venue, catering, décor to favors and even a peacock (but that’s a story for another day).

It was important that I deliver not just because she was my friend but because it was important to her and her fiancé. They were investing time, energy and money into their wedding. They were trusting me with a monumental moment in their lives. I had to do my very best! When the day arrived, my checklists were made and I ensured everything was done. I checked and re-checked to be sure. Everything was perfect!

What I remember most are the smiles on their faces. There were no looks of worry because everything was handled. They were able to enjoy their day and feel secure about their decision to ask me to help. I will never forget the feeling I felt. Not just pride but the warmth of uncontrollable joy rushing through my veins. Like wow! I did that.

As time continues, I’ve managed a variety of events. From birthday parties to weddings to 3000 patron festivals like CultureFest, I’ve been fortunate to continue to perfect my craft. Today, I’m continuing to grow my business by learning from my mentor (fellow wedding and event planner), who is so graciously blessing me with her industry/business knowledge. So when people ask me my “why.” I simply say I love love! I love to make people happy and leave them satisfied, knowing they made the right decision by choosing me as their planner. It brings me joy to be a part of such a special moment in time and it is my pleasure to bring their vision to life.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been an easy road. There were times when I wasn’t encouraged to continue pursuing this dream of mine for lack of funds, time and clients. In the beginning, I did events here and there. It wasn’t until Jan 2020 that I decided to invest in my dream. I invested in my website, started blogging (jrowebydesign.com) and pursued more industry knowledge. Failing isn’t an option for me and if I’m going to do this… I’m going to do my very best.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Being a wedding and event planner is a special role. You get to be a part of monumental moments in the lives of your clients. You get to foster business relationships with vendors and organize beautiful events to remember. I am still making a name for myself in this industry. But, if you were to ask any client or vendor I’ve worked with before, the verbiage will be the same. They will say I am fun, kind, consistent, reliable and I care! That’s what I’m most proud of. I can show up as myself at every turn. I’m passionate about every detail, not because I was hired to be but because I love what I do. I love to see the process from concept to fruition. I love to create memories from a place of love!

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is to deliver an exceptional client experience. This matters because planning any event can be stressful. But, I strive to always give the best of me, which minimizes the stress of my client. Whether I am their full-service wedding planner, their wedding day coordinator or event planner. They will receive the same level of service. They will know that I care and feel secure in their decision of booking my services.
