Rising Stars: Meet Jada Roy of DMV

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Roy.

Hi Jada, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jada, Im going start with a quick background about me. I come from a broken home,I am a first-generation college graduate, and a young black woman in corporate and entrepreneur. With that quickly being said I was born as a stereotype who was suppose to fail as a young black female but I must say I have been blessed to overcome many challenges that I face daily that keeps setting me apart and allowing me to strive in many different areas in my life thus far.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a smooth road?
No of course not! However as a young black educated female trying to navigate through corporate, it tends to get overwhelming at times, but I am determined not to give up and to continue breaking the chains “they” think they have upon us. Just know that you should never give up on what you want out of life, and whatever you put your mind to, you can do it, so don’t ever let no one tell you differently, or you can’t! Never limit yourself or allow them to cage you in.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently work at an accounting firm, and it is not easy being a young black female at 23 years old thriving in corporate America. I have faced plenty of challenges and still am overcoming them to this day. With that being said don’t ever give up on what you want out of life and whatever you put your mind to, you can do, no one can tell you differently if you always bet on yourself. Things you may want in life may not be what you need, so be aligned with whatever your belief is because I thought I would be many things. Still, to this day the man above has had different plans and routes set out for me, so I am learning to let go and let him guide me and use me in the way he plans. I am also an entrepreneur in which, and I do hair. I’ve been around it all my life, but it was one of my talents I avoided for a while; My business is thriving and flourishing on the daily basis I receive plenty texts, calls, and reviews from my clients about how many compliments they received or much they love their hair in which most times gains me a lot of referrals. It makes me the proudest to know I made someone feel great about themselves, and my work of art is shining through, allowing me to flourish my business through word of mouth. I don’t run social media for that aspect of my life; I allow my work to work for me….from day 1. I’ve been blessed to do just that! So many people have asked why don’t I have an Instagram page for hair or I need to make one. However, I don’t need feel the need to…humbly. I believed, I  prayed, and I manifest in what I do daily. Standing on those 3 things and understanding work without faith is dead. I always step into things having faith and taking the risk of stepping out no matter the outcome. Some people are afraid of change or don’t adapt well to changes, so they stay comfortable. They stay stagnant or within their wake position and never move, which is not good; you should never get too comfortable cause you are tricking yourself out of so many blessed positions! STAY WOKE. Stay tuned for my YouTube channel coming real soon and subscribe to stay updated on the latest keeping up with me.

What does success mean to you?
I define success as beating the odds or overcoming a challenge you or no one else thought you would! Most importantly, believing and always betting on yourself is the #1 rule. Once you stand on everything, you are willing to put your mind to you will become unstoppable, unshakable, and unbreakable! With that being said don’t ever give up because failure is a powerful learning tool….don’t let that go over your head.
