Today we’d like to introduce you to Evette Thomas.
Hi Evette, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started to have these Vivid dreams about beautiful flowers. I couldn’t figure out why I kept having these dreams, I ignored them for about a year, but God, oh God kept urging me, pushing me to make it a reality. I had lost my mom in 2010, I had lost my job I moved in with a man that I thought I going to marry that didn’t work. I had to go and live with my sister and slept on her couch for two years. In within those two years those dreams became more vivid every night. I didn’t have a full-time job but I had a part-time job. And God kept urging me to create these dreams that I was seeing so I got up and I went to the store & I bought some flowers and vases and I sat at my sister’s kitchen table for hours and started creating these arrangements. And this is how Eve’s Creations was born. This message is to encourage anyone that is reading it. If you have a dream get out make it happen don’t push that dream away, make your dream into reality. So here I am 10 years later as an event designer/planner and I love it just wanna say thank you Jesus!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was very rough in the beginning, not having much money to start my business. I actually started on a shoestring budget, shopping at the thrift store and Dollar stores to get my supplies. It took me over five years to actually be able to buy Quality flowers and other items. Now I am able to buy better items for events.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a full-time mental health counselor I’ve been doing it for about 15 years; I love helping other people and just to see them smile to know that they’ve accomplished something. I am most proud of seeing one of my clients actually graduate from the program and start living in the community on his own without the assistance of myself or any of the other medical team helping him to be successful in the community. What sesame aside from others is that I really put everything into my clients. I really get personal with them to let them know that I am there for them and that I truly care about their well-being and I want nothing more than great success for them.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I took a risk when I started my event planning business. I’m just stepping out on faith showing my skills and hoping that people would buy my floral arrangements because when I started my business I started off just making floor arrangements and it was definitely a big risk. Because I only had little bit of money. I believe that taking a risk is worth whatever your dreams are. If you were a dreamer and you have the skills to make your dreams come true why not step out there on faith and make it happen.
