Rising Stars: Meet Dan Goodman of New Orleans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Goodman.

Hi Dan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I make furniture out of wood for a living. I started as a child and later grew into an adult who makes custom furniture. I also make cabinets and other miscellaneous items. I make music as well and paintings occasionally. I began in business for myself after being laid off from a warehouse job and have been growing ever since via online presence and accommodating clients’ whims. I hope to turn this business into a furniture line similar to Scandinavia.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a smooth road?
Money is usually tight; wood is expensive. I make things work because I prefer not having a boss. One part-time employee is currently helping me with deliveries, and that helps.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am interested in helping fight the culture of bland interiors that are all painted white and beige. I want to create furniture that adds texture and color to a space. Our built environment should mimic nature’s depth and beauty if we want to enjoy our time in it. I want to be an artist, and furniture is a good way to get paid.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I have never read a book in my life.
