Rising Stars: Meet Angel Randall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angel Randall.

Angel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story dates back to early 2019 when I was struggling to maintain self-care. I was often on the verge of burnout when I committed to being intentional about my self-care. After months of maintaining my self-care routine by lighting candles and reading inspirational quotes daily, I noticed a change in my mood and attitude.

By Spring 2019, I was inspired to start Zen Essentials and help others improve their self-care by stimulating the senses. I embarked on the journey of researching, testing, and brand development. After testing candles for six months, I felt defeated, burnt out and completely gave up. I took a break for a few months to allow myself to rebuild motivation. Later, reminded myself why I started this journey and that was all the motivation I needed to officially launch in May 2020.

Zen Essentials represents resiliency and encourages our customers to reinvent themselves by committing to improving their self-care and wellness. We offer a collection of scented candles, wax melts, and car diffusers to add to their space while practicing self-care. Our products are unique, in which we blend chemical-free fragrances with essential oils intended to increase mood, mental clarity and lessen stress and anxiety. We also offer personalized wellness tips to aid with their self-care journey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Mostly, it has been a very rewarding journey but bumps in the road here and there. It’s an adjustment working as a full-time Mental Health Therapist while solely operating a business. I am candlemaker, content creator, photographer, and marketing strategist all in one. Along the way, I’ve learned time management, which continues to be a challenge at times. Consistency is key but is difficult while balancing a business while working full time.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a LGPC, Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor, soon to be fully licensed to practice therapy independently. I work at a black women owned group practice where I provide individual therapy to those with various disorders. I specialize in trauma and trained to provide trauma techniques that aid in helping clients adapt and heal. I strive to encourage clients to discover their true self and guide them to healing in order to have a healthy and satisfying lifestyle. In other words, I ride shotgun with my clients to help them figure out how to live their best life.

What’s next?
I’d love to be a full-time entrepreneur! I’m looking forward to expanding and creating a team who can help with social media management and marketing.
