Meet The Rough Cut Sportscast

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Rough Cut Sportscast. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Two guys who loved sports, Vincent Milani and AJ Johnson both ran separate sports podcasts that were a lot of fun. They never quite reached the level of success they were hoping for. It felt like a hobby, not a lifestyle.

What was next? That’s when each of them decided to enroll in The Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting at Full Sail University. A university with hundreds of sportscasting students, these two found each other. Shortly into their journey, they realized they shared similar goals and a bond was formed. In a competitive environment and industry, they chose to work together to build something special. It started as a simple fantasy football podcast, but they quickly realized the chemistry, passion, knowledge, and drive they shared was meant for something bigger. So they went all in. The Rough Cut Sportscast was born.

Shortly after launching the show, they began searching for additional concepts and talent to take it to the next level. They looked and found what they needed in a familiar place. Aaron Meaux and Dylan Kerns, who also attended Full Sail, was just what the show needed. Since then, The Rough Cut Sportscast has joined The Belly Up Sports Network, worked with high profile sponsors, branded show merchandise and it’s just the start.

They continue to be a show that is for sports fans, by sports fans, and is here to stay.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
In every venture, there are bumps along the way. No destination worth reaching is ever easy. As full-time students trying to earn a degree, working full-time, and having full-time families, managing time and prioritizing have been a challenge. The Rough Cut crew stretches from two parts of Florida, South Carolina, all the way to California.

Four individuals in different time zones across the country planning, preparing, producing, editing, and filming live shows have provided its obstacles. It has also shown to be a blessing. Providing an example of the industry and the relentless hard work required to attain our dreams on every level.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
The Rought Cut Sportscast is a video sports podcast that focuses on all your favorite sports! NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB. Our fans choose to watch us because we are so interactive with them when they join our stream.

We take questions from them, we make jokes with them, we make sure they always feel like a part of the show. We pride ourselves on turning our fans into fans of every sport, even if you have never watched it before. But what truly sets us apart from other sports podcasts is our quality content.

Being taught by professionals still active in the sportscasting world has given us a unique perspective on what a sports show should look like. When you tune in to The Rough Cut It looks as if you are watching a show on ESPN. There are graphics, game films, athlete interviews, things you don’t see on your everyday podcast.

The Rough Cut is currently on Youtube, Roku, and Samsung TV. We will be joining the Amazon Prime and Apple TV family at the beginning of 2022!

How do you define success?
Success is in the eye of the beholder. In its simplest form can be defined as setting goals and putting in the work to accomplish those goals by doing your best. Using failure as fuel to persevere and believe in yourself. The Rough Cut Sportscast was created to give a voice to sports fans.

We know we will have found success when we get to do what we love seven days a week, and that’s being there for those sports fans. Because that’s really how we got to this point, by being sports fans! Looking beyond the basic fame and fortune, and focusing on providing quality content produced at industry level standards.

The passion sports fans are known for having is directly reflected in the daily shows. The Rough Cut Sportscast aims to change the game whether it’s for one fan or one million. The dedication and drive of this team make it a success.
