Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Willard.
Hi Tammy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Heartfelt Family Living was born out of my own family’s journey through profound challenge and transformation. When my son was born with a rare genetic condition, doctors were unsure what his future would hold. Not long after, my husband was diagnosed with cancer, and I found myself navigating caregiving, grief, and the search for answers all at once. After losing my husband at the age of 40, I had to rebuild our lives with intention.
Through that process, I immersed myself in early childhood development, mental health, and evidence-based nutrition. I discovered the powerful role that whole-food, plant-rich living, mindset work, and community support can play in healing and resilience.
Today, as a coach and educator, I help families make sustainable lifestyle changes that support both physical and emotional wellbeing. Heartfelt Family Living is my way of turning personal loss into purpose — helping other families nourish their bodies, strengthen their relationships, and live with greater presence and hope.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all — it has definitely not been a smooth road.
Some of my greatest challenges were deeply personal. Navigating my son’s complex medical and developmental needs while simultaneously walking through my husband’s cancer diagnosis — and ultimately losing him at just 40 years old — reshaped every part of my life. There were seasons of exhaustion, grief, financial strain, and uncertainty about what the future would hold.
Professionally, building Heartfelt Family Living while continuing my graduate studies and caregiving responsibilities required resilience and discipline. Stepping into entrepreneurship after profound loss meant learning new skills, embracing vulnerability, and finding the courage to share my story publicly.
There were moments of doubt — wondering if I had the energy, the clarity, or the capacity to keep going. But each obstacle strengthened my conviction that families need compassionate, evidence-based support that addresses both physical health and emotional wellbeing. The challenges didn’t stop me; they refined the mission.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Heartfelt Family Living is a family-centered coaching and education platform designed to help families build healthier lives from the inside out. I specialize in whole-food, plant-rich nutrition, early childhood development, and psychological flexibility skills that help caregivers create lasting lifestyle change — not just short-term fixes.
What sets Heartfelt Family Living apart is that we don’t focus on food alone. We integrate evidence-based nutrition, mental health tools, and family systems support. My background in psychology, special education, early childhood development, and Nutritarian coaching allows me to look at health through a biopsychosocial lens — understanding that behavior change happens within relationships, stress patterns, sensory needs, and daily routines.
I work primarily with caregivers and families who want sustainable change. That includes group coaching programs, lifestyle courses, community support, and practical guidance such as meal planning, kitchen resets, habit stacking, and mindset training rooted in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We emphasize small, repeatable steps — because lasting change happens through consistency and compassion, not perfection.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise is the heart behind the mission. Heartfelt Family Living was built from lived experience — from walking through loss, caregiving, and rebuilding with intention. It’s not just theory; it’s practice. It’s a space where families feel seen, supported, and empowered with science-backed tools they can realistically apply in their everyday lives.
I want readers to know that our work is about hope and agency. You don’t have to overhaul your entire life overnight. You can begin with one nourishing meal, one mindful breath, one value-aligned choice at a time. We exist to help families strengthen their foundation so they can thrive — physically, emotionally, and relationally — for the long term.
What matters most to you? Why?
First and foremost, my own family. Walking through profound loss and caregiving has taught me to treasure the simplest moments — a smile across the room, a lingering hug, shared laughter, holding hands in silence. Those ordinary gestures are not ordinary at all. They are everything. When you’ve faced uncertainty about tomorrow, you learn that presence is the greatest gift we have.
Next to that is service.
My mission is rooted in what I wish I had fully understood when my son was struggling medically and developmentally, and when my husband was losing his fight with cancer. I wish I had known more about the power of nutrition, about stress and its impact on the body, about small daily habits that compound over time, and about the importance of community support.
What matters most to me now is helping other families become aware sooner — to feel empowered rather than overwhelmed. If I can help one caregiver feel less alone, more informed, and more hopeful, then the pain we walked through carries purpose.
