Meet Shayla Eoff

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shayla Eoff.

Hi Shayla, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started working at 15, for Rita’s Water Ice, at 20, I got my first job in cosmetic retail, I always worked full time and ran my business as a freelance makeup artist.

In 2016, after working for several different high-end cosmetics brands, Estee Lauder and Bare Minerals, I got my dream job with MAC cosmetics! In 2019, I got a promotion that would call for me to relocate to Baltimore as an assistant store manager. I was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to get out of Delaware. Working in upper management had it’s challenges though, while financially fulfilling, my business started to suffer as I had no time for my personal ventures, my family and personal life.

I made the decision to quit full-time work and moved to a smaller brand. I was gonna take the leap. I got a job with Morphe Cosmetics part-time and I began to focus more on the clientele I built up since moving here. I soon became too busy for my part-time job! My prayers were being answered and I couldn’t deny it any longer. I would be standing in-store and inquiries would come flooding in! Something had to give and it wasn’t going to be me. I saved up my coins and turned in my notice. I’ve been in business for myself for less than a month now and I’m still in awe and forever grateful.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think the biggest struggle has been all the family events and moments I’ve missed out on due to work. I struggled with and still struggle with when I’ve done enough. Now that I am in complete control of my time, I look forward to many memories. My transition to entrepreneurship was fairly smooth because I had an exit plan in place and I stuck to it. The hardest thing has honestly been the tax forms and fees, I just want to make sure I have all my ducks in a row, lol.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a makeup artist, creative director and model. I specialize in makeup application, specifically brows and skin enhancement. I’m known for my timeliness and of that, I am most proud. My energy sets me apart from others as I don’t just strive for my clients to look better but feel better as well. I almost always get repeat clients, I pride myself on my loyal clients.

What are your plans for the future?
I plan to move to a larger studio space by 2023. I will also be launching a cosmetics line, I won’t be too specific yet, you will have to keep up with me to see what’s next.
