Hi Qiana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Thank you Voyage Baltimore for allowing me to share my story with you! I’m Qiana Brost Registered Nurse of over 15 years and owner of H2Glow Life, an IV Hydration and Vitamin Shot Bar. When I entered nursing school, I had no idea the specialty I would be interested in pursuing and no thoughts of nursing entrepreneurship. I knew that I wanted to be of service to others and quickly found my footing and comfort in doing so within my autonomy. The serving came easy to me. I often would ask the following question: How can I help you & what do you need? From there, I could help my patient navigate their day under my care as best and effectively as possible and found joy in that work. I entered into nurse entrepreneurship because I wanted the chance to impact change on a level where I was personally responsible. I wanted to build a community of clients whom I could serve in a way that would empower and influence them to make choices that positively affected their self-care and wellness, providing them with true patient-centered care. I am a die-hard skincare junkie! I enjoy the benefits of consistent facials and how combining that with other healthy habits like physical activity and proper hydration can make a difference in your skin and self-confidence. I looked for other ways to complement these results and discovered IV Hydration. I wanted to create a life beyond the bedside that would allow me to serve and impact customer experiences through nursing care, health, and beauty.
Knowing the direction I wanted to go in, I then focused on how I could educate myself on how to implement these services and found an IV Hydration Business Started Up Course and attended the class in January of 2021. It took me a year of diligent work, education, and finding an attorney and medical director who are familiar with healthcare and business law. And ensuring I have all the supplies and vitamins needed to provide a premium experience before I launch H2Glow Life, IV Hydration & Wellness in January of 2022.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
There are a ton of nuances within the healthcare system as well as business. All new journeys come with their own set of challenges. One of my biggest challenges has been navigating the space as a novice business owner, which is one of the reasons I joined a mentorship program back in January 2022. Entering the program provided me with resources, a support system of other nurse entrepreneurs, and a mentor, Veronica Southerland, aka VeeTheNP. One of the other struggles can be ensuring that the public is educated about the types of services that we offer. And how to use these services to complement their lifestyle. Our mission is to provide a customer experience that is convenient, customizable, and comfortable by integrating knowledgeable clinical practice with a desire to influence health and wellness.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
H2Glow Life provides IV Hydration and a personalized Vitamin Shot Bar in Maryland, from Baltimore to Waldorf! IV Hydration is a simple treatment to administer fluids infused with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants directly into your bloodstream. This allows your body to absorb up to 100% of the nutrients. It is needed as opposed to when taken by mouth, which is related to the health of the digestive system. Most individuals do not consume enough water and the recommended daily vitamins and minerals. IV Hydration is safe, quick, and effective and can be customized for your personal preferences. The staff at H2Glow LIfe consults with each client on their desired needs, considers the best way to optimize their results, and implements a plan for each client tailored to those needs. We are known for our concierge service. We bring the experience straight to our clients, allowing them to remain in their homes or office. Our Vitamin Shot Bar is made to order.
H2Glow Life also has built relationships with other local businesses within the community. Such as VIP Beauty Klub, where H2Glow Life has partnered with them to educate and provide their clients with our services, conduct wellness checks, perform blood pressure checks, and discuss healthy and preventative care habits that can improve their quality of Life. Additionally, we do weekly Instagram Lives on Tuesdays at 2 pm EST to discuss new services, which infusions/vitamins best serve which deficiency symptoms, our favorite health and wellness practices, and other relevant topics. I have also partnered with churches and corporations to share the importance of creating a health and employee well-being culture with their congregation, employees, and leadership.
As a brand, I’m most proud of building that community of clients I desired to build when I first entered this business. It brings me great joy to know when I see a client who isn’t feeling well. They can utilize the services and have the chance to ask questions and be assessed by qualified and experienced nurses.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some changes you expect to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe IV Hydration & Wellness services and clinical spas will continue to expand within the next 5-10 years with an influence to serve. More healthcare providers are opening their businesses to serve their community so that they know they have more of a direct impact, and I know that trend will continue to grow. H2Glow Life promotes proactive care. We want to encourage our clients and the community to use preventative care to create healthy living habits. For our clients, that means instead of waiting to feel yourself getting sick or the symptoms of a cold, you schedule our Immunity Boost IV Drip or Vitamin shot to help boost your immune system. We believe in a healthy lifestyle, and the industry will continue to move in the direction that allows for more access to clinical spa services.
