Meet Nimisha Patel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nimisha Patel.

Hi Nimisha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Nimisha Patel and I am the proud owner of Creative Crafty Mom. I have always had a love for crafting and learning how to create new things. The start of Creative Crafty Mom began in 2016 when I decided to stay home after having my second child.

My crafting journey eventually led me to make string art. It started by making string art for family and friends and eventually for local craft shows. My string art designs became so popular that I decided to open an Etsy shop. A few years later, I was able to own my own website and am now also a part of Amazon Handmade.

My business has expanded from string art to personalized laser goods and cultural decor in the last few years. I’m hoping people know me for who I am and can feel my love through each product they purchase.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Getting to where I am today was definitely not easy.

There were months with no sales or growth in my business but with continued support from fellow small business owners, I’ve pushed myself to keep going.

I’ve never met some of these fellow business owners but they’ve been so supportive and cheered for me.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a string artist who makes art using string, nails, and wood. I grew up having Ganesha at every step of the way but always saw Ganesha in a very traditional look.

So as I began this journey of mine, one of my first string art pieces was a Ganesha. I wanted to have a modern and unique touch. Since that first piece I made, I’ve made over 500 Ganesha as of today.

I currently have a waitlist for Ganesha and have had the opportunity to make pieces for weddings, housewarmings, and Diwali gifts.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
The small business community on Instagram has been my inspiration and support which is where I’ve come across some of the best sources for running a small business.

Founders like Payal Kadakia and Deepica Mutyala have been such an inspiration for me and I’ve loved following their journey.
