Meet Nicholas Dillon of Believe University

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Dillon.

Hi Nicholas, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My life has been an interesting journey. Growing up, I suffered from a respiratory disease, which left me with a limited ability to participate in many activities as a kid. Because technology in the medical field was not as advanced as it is now at the time, it was just safe to have me away from major extracurricular activities that would aggravate my respiratory system.  Going through these times, made me feel down most of my childhood, and led to lots of teasing and bullying from other kids at school. It impacted my self-image and self-esteem. Honestly, I did not see myself as good enough or as good as the rest of my peers. The only thing I was confident in, was that I believed I was smart, but even that was not popular back in the day.   At 15.5 years old, during my most impressionable years of life, I felt my life was so dark, depressing, and not worth living. The bullying, low self-image, lack of love, and victimhood had gotten the best of me. I had 3 siblings but felt disconnected at the time. I had decided in my mind and heart that I would take my own life. I had planned to hang myself in our basement and was in the process of doing so when my mom called me.  She had no clue what was going on at the time.  For whatever reason, I never went back to the basement; and this began the first day of the rest of my life. I began a journey of self-help and self-care. I poured into myself and honestly was able to love myself for the first time in my life. I started believing in myself and building my relationship with GOD. I was now a work in progress. Over the years, I grew in small increments, building myself personally and professionally. After college, I got married and started a family.  I went to work in the Insurance industry for several years. I even worked for the municipal government before breaking away and starting my first Risk Management consulting firm with a good friend of mine. The business had a great run and helped me to gain the momentum of the true entrepreneurial spirit. I went back into corporate America for another few years before jumping again into self-employment.  I finally found my true passion and calling in this World. I have learned that understanding your “Why” and your “Purpose” makes getting up every day much easier and more meaningful.  I now have several businesses, Milwaukee Counseling Services, Believe University, and Believe Wellness Center, located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and the Dallas, TX, area. These businesses are all about adding value to others in a positive way. I have taken my journey in life and created an intentional mission to help others live their best life by believing in themselves while increasing their value and worth. I have had the opportunity to speak with youth about self-image and confidence so that they do not find themselves in a predicament I was in. As an entrepreneur, I coach, counsel, educate, consult, and support people Worldwide by using the simple word “BELIEVE,” which is the foundation of my work. I have a level of significance that transcends far beyond monetary compensation. For me, it is priceless when I can positively impact a life or help someone shift their thinking. I recently published my latest book project titled “The Belief Mindset,” which was a great understanding and awareness for me and allows me to help others understand how their beliefs and mindset impact every aspect of their lives. It guides your choices and impacts all your relationships. Through my experience in the helping profession, I have learned that this work is necessary and relevant in today’s Global society.  My lovely wife, children, and grandchildren keep me grounded. My commitment to God reassures me to continue to believe for Greater.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

  • Health challenges – Respiratory disease Bullying as a child
  • Low self-image
  • Low self-esteem
  • The feeling of not being good enough
  • Believing I would not live long
  • Having no goals and aspirations during my formative years

What do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is when I see the “Aha” moment in a coaching or counseling session. When I hear from someone who has read one of my books, they tell me it changed their life. When I wake up each day, I can appreciate the ability to inhale and exhale without being on oxygen. Not only do that make me happy, but it also makes me so grateful. For me, happiness is a relative word. Significance lets me know that I am here for a purpose far greater than me.
