Meet Meg Landymore

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meg Landymore.

Hi Meg, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I became a Certified Physician Assistant in the state of Maryland after completing my Master’s at Seton Hall University in 2011. I began my career in Neurosurgery and then moved to Emergency Medicine, which I adored. After my first child was born, the complicated schedule led me to Urgent Care where I met my current business partner. I also served 6 years in the Army National Guard as a Physician Assistant in the Medical Detachment.

Throughout this time, I was and continue to be an accomplished ultra-marathon runner. After I was blessed with my second child, my colleague, Jennifer, came across a franchise opportunity in anti-aging and aesthetic medicine. I was untrained in this field, and as an athlete, military female, and mother of two boys, I felt reasonably unprepared for the culture of “Botox and Filler.” Jennifer insisted that I consider joining her in the franchise opportunity. She attempted to persuade me by talking about the family and personal-life benefits, but what really sold me was stepping outside of “general medicine” and having the opportunity to learn a brand new skill set that can be used without the limitations of medical insurance companies.

I decided to join Jennifer, and we both trained under Dr. George Gavrila for a full year before opening the first franchise of ProMD Health in Columbia Maryland. Due to opening in January 2020, we were just getting our business up and running when the COVID-19 shutdown took place. It was quite the “new business owning” experience! By the end of May, we were allowed to re-open our doors, and we were blessed to see the fruits of our labor. The patients continued to come and we continued to see and hear positive feedback.

We have now begun to expand, hiring more staff, including providers and estheticians, and preparing to move into a new, larger, and more luxurious space across the street from our current office. This space will allow us to offer more treatments and services in aesthetics and anti-aging in line with our parent company’s larger offices, located in Timonium and Annapolis.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Dealing with the pandemic has been one of the biggest struggles, obviously being shut down for 2.5 months within our first 6 months was a financial hardship but we survived with the state Grant and PPP loans. We were lucky to have a strong team that was able to remain flexible throughout the time.

Other than Covid, everything else has been pretty smooth. We’ve been blessed to work with Dr. Gavrila and Scott Melamed of ProMD Health Corporate offices as they have been a great support system from the moment we signed with them in 2019. We all work together as a team with them and strive to promote the same mission in patient care.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an Aesthetic Physician Assistant specializing in botox, dermal fillers, skin laser treatments, and hormone optimization therapies. I am known for my light touch and my “everything in moderation” perspective.

When I came into aesthetics, I was as nervous as anyone, never having had botox or fillers. I took what I would call, baby steps into the industry. I learned and listened to Dr. Gavrila and other training providers. I have personally seen the benefits that aesthetics provides not only to my skin and appearance but also to my confidence.

I am most proud of my ability to talk and teach my patient holistically. I believe that with my approach, my patients feel comfortable, get a full understanding of the treatment options available and redeem the benefits from the scientific advancements in anti-aging that continue to expand every year.

Jennifer and I work hard to make our patients feel as comfortable as possible and to feel taken care of before, during, and after their treatments and that is what sets us apart from our competitors.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Columbia is a diverse community, this is my favorite aspect! I love the continued opportunity to meet new people with diverse mindsets, cultures, and upbringings.

My least favorite is all the traffic lights! Columbia is a bit too congested for me!
