Meet Lisa Coleman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Coleman.

Hi Lisa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
This really started for me while visiting the DMV (DC, Maryland, & Virginia) Metro area as a child. Both sides of my family had relatives that lived in the DMV. The dynamic nature of the region, the local businesses, the diversity of the people, its history, and great seafood really had a positive impression on me.

A great deal of my time in college was spent listening to podcasts on various topics. It really created a love in me for podcasting and audio content. Audio content was a way to connect to people personally, an avenue to learn, and be entertained via one media source.

We tried a podcast project before this one, it was not as successful. The Local DMV Business & Leisure Podcast AKA The DC Metro 3. The podcast was really born from our love of two things podcasting the DMV. We love the creators, businesses, artists, comedians, and professionals that call the DMV (DC, Maryland, & Virginia) home. Our podcast hopes to be a love letter to a region that we love.

I am sharing my story, but this podcast is a team effort. It is important to appreciate that fact. Thank you team, fellow podcasters in the DMV, business owners, and other creators that supported this effort.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way.
The process of creating a podcast had some challenges. I think the biggest hurdle was getting over that initial failure that happened. The idea really connected for this project when it was defined as centering around the DMV region (DC, Maryland, & Virginia) and could include a leisure aspect to it.

We are still in the growth phase, connecting with our audience and finding “our voice”. We want to be a friend to both our audience, the DMV region, and visitors.

Also, I want to thank those guests who took a chance on us! Thank you for believing in what we are trying to do.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I hope that our podcast supports our listeners/friends and the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) region. In the months ahead, we will be covering each area of the DMV in-depth for a weeks at a time. There will be weeks focusing on DC, Maryland, and Virginia to give our friends a real sense of the unique flavor of each location. Additionally, we will continue to have giveaways for those who join the newsletter, so join. Some upcoming topics will include dating/relationships, career development, events, and more general DMV awesomeness!

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was just a nerd that loved reading, listening to the audio, watching random TV/online content, and had a love for science. Some might say I was friendly and chatty back then, so they would not be surprised about the podcast. We are just a group of friendly people that interests vary from books, tea, sports, food, history, anime, and much more.
