Meet Lionel Gray

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lionel Gray.

Hi Lionel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I got into dog breeding fairly early. I was 14 or 15 when I first found a passion for it. I didn’t stick with it in my earlier days because I became a music producer for some big-time artists. I chose to chase that dream instead. I picked back up my love for dog breeding in 2018 because I realized the importance of having my own business that I could control 100%. Also, I wanted it to be a family business to grow and eventually pass down to my son, who is now 2 going on 3, and future children as well. I know how important legacy is, so I must work hard to ensure my children have future options.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s a great business that can be smooth at times and rough when unexpected things happen like the pandemic.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an American XL bully dog breeder. That’s the breed I specialize in. I’m known for having great dogs with amazing temperaments and family pets. What sets me apart from others is that I’m not doing this for self or money; I’m in this for my family’s legacy! I’m proud of the company’s growth thus far and excited to see where it goes.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I have a few breeders that I talk to often. More experienced than me and they give me knowledge about the business. That helps me minimize my mistakes.
