Meet Lauren Fleming of Mosa Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Fleming.

Hi Lauren, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I need to first start this part off with the fact that I’ve been fashion-obsessed since as long as I can remember as a child. I’d play dress-up until I’d drop. I remember at 6-7 years old I would go into my aunt and Cousin’s closets when I’d visit them in NY and pick out the most fun audacious outfits. They both had a love for fashion living the NYC lifestyle. I honestly think my love for fashion started to really develop seeing what New York City was really about at such a young and vulnerable age.

Fast forward to 18 months ago. The pandemic was full-blown happening, my husband and I had been struggling with Fertility and undergoing IVF, and I had simultaneously just hired a transformation Life coach Named Kristen Such. I was in a haze at that point, just going through the motions of life but knew there was something more that I was destined to do. Hiring Kristen was the best thing I could have ever done for myself. She pushed me to really open my eyes and taught me to rewrite all the limiting beliefs that I’ve been taught throughout my life. It wasn’t easy to stir up all the old emotions and trauma that occurred in my life but you have to be vulnerable and true with yourself to experience that life-changing growth. I wasn’t quite ready to take the risk on opening my own business but I had just undergone my 3rd round of IVF and had a miscarriage. To work so hard for something and it just be taken away from you was the hardest thing I had ever been through. I chose to handle it with the same grace, positivity, and tenacity that I’ve been working on day in and day out with myself for months. It is truly what drove me to realize that I am strong enough to accomplish anything I truly want in life. Mosa was born in July of 2020!

I opened my online retail store Shopmosaboutique.com February 28th of 2021. The positive response was overwhelming and I knew that I’d found my calling. Shopping and styling yourself can be very overwhelming. I take the work out of this for women by handpicking a curated collection of all the best pieces and designers each season. My main goal is to continue to grow Mosa Online while opening a small flagship store in the Annapolis area. Mosa is about making women feel beautiful and confident in the clothing they wear.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
There have been many struggles along the way. With an online business you have to be very present on social media to be successful. Comparing yourself and your business to other companies with more followers is quite honestly the hardest and most detrimental to success. You have to quiet the noise in your head and keep saying “you got this. If they can be successful so can you.”.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Mosa Boutique?
Mosa Boutique is a Women’s online clothing store. We aim to take the work and overwhelm out of shopping by handpicking a curated collection of the best seasonal pieces and designers. We offer personal styling appointments via Zoom as well as in-person styling appointments for Women in the DMV area. You fill out our online survey on your sizing and any wardrobe needs and or events and I’ll do the rest!

I am most proud of our ability to cater towards so many women and help them feel confident and beautiful in the clothing they wear!

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
The best advice I can give any entrepreneur looking to start their own business is stay in your lane and do not compare yourself to anyone else. Be truthful to you and you will be successful! Don’t ever give up. Take little wins and pat yourself on the back. Don’t be afraid to look back and say look how far I’ve come!

Be open to taking advice and help from other women who have been in your shoes. Help support other women! The amount of support I have received and amazing women I have met makes this journey so worth it!!!
