Meet Janice B.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Janice B.

Hi Janice, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been intuitive and a believer in the holistic approach to wellness. I am a singer/songwriter with musical releases locally in Baltimore as well as overseas. Reiki found me in 2016. After being present when both my father and mother transitioned (2014 and 2016 respectively), I was led to learn more about energy work.

I studied crystal healing and Reiki (a Japanese technique channeling Universal Life Force energy to promote healing) and began seeing clients. In January 2017, I received my Master Teacher Certification in Usui Holy Fire 2 Reiki and began teaching and certifying others in this amazing modality. I am clairsentient and incorporate an integrative approach to my healing sessions.

Clairsentience is the ability to sense energy and to feel the present, past, and even future physical, mental and emotional states of other people. I am also certified as a death doula. A Death Doula is a non-medical person trained to care for someone holistically (physically, emotionally, and spiritually) at the end of life.

In 2018, I decided that I could help more people and reach a wider audience by combining my musical endeavors and stage performances with my healing and energy work. From this, my group The Healing Flame Collective was born. The Healing Flame Collective is a diverse group of artists, musicians, healers, creators, and visionaries. We combine music, sound healing, meditation, vocals, vibrations, and reiki to bring healing and alignment to the listener.

My goal is to continue to use my gifts to help others and create a ripple of positive change in the world.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I have an amazing family and support system with everything that I do so I feel like maybe my journey hasn’t always been as challenging as it has for people who don’t have that support. However, I often struggle with self-doubt and sometimes questioning if I am doing all that I can do. I think that’s something many of us deal with.

It’s also been a challenge as an artist to financially support my projects and endeavors while providing for my family at the same time. I’m a big believer in the laws of attraction and the flow of money in our lives and try to maintain an abundant mindset as much as possible. So far, I have been able to reach my goals and continue to learn from any challenges and bumps in the road.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a singer-songwriter, a Reiki Master Teacher, Crystal Healer, Death Doula, and co-founder of the group The Healing Flame Collective. In the music world, I am known for lyrics and music that uplift and connect with people. That same energy is present in my healing work as well. What sets me apart is my integrity and respect for all of my projects, modalities, sessions, and classes.

A holistic healing world is often a place where you find a lot of disingenuous “leaders” and “healers” using sacred and indigenous practices without proper training and respect for the culture and practice. Diversity and inclusion is what The Healing Flame Collective is all about. Bringing artists from all walks of life together with the common goal of healing.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The world seems chaotic and sometimes crazy right now. The political climate, the pandemic, and a feeling of upheaval have affected everyone. But the good news is that people are waking up. They are looking within for the answers to their physical and emotional well-being. They are looking for ways to feel better and are willing to take action and learn so that they can live happier and healthier lives.

This has resulted in an even bigger interest in holistic modalities, both as a treatment and learning them to practice on your own. People are questioning things that they previously didn’t consider. This new healing mindset means more clients, more students, and a bigger audience for those of us helping others to navigate their own healing journey.
