Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Krapf. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Isaac Krapf is a multi-instrumentalist from Baltimore, Maryland. His first work, “Seasick” was released in 2020 at the beginning of the COVID Pandemic. On that record, he wrote & tracked all of the guitars, bass, vocals, lyrics and drums. Throughout quarantine, Isaac has continued writing and in 2021 released his second record “The Hollow.”
In a recent review, Zone Nights blog described the songs as “Intense….aggressive, but at the same time melodic.” This is mainly due to his instrumentation which includes clean chordal guitar work layered over heavy bottom end guitars. Isaac Krapf has played in multiple venues throughout the Baltimore area most notably Zen West & Full Tilt Brewing. His music can be found on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. Isaac is also highly engaged with his audience on social media platforms.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been smooth at all. I had no idea what I was getting into. Even the people who are good at music still struggle to make a living and I decided, “Hey, let’s do this for a living”. It’s not about the money for me. The majority of people that are able to make money with it start at a very young age. I was definitely behind the curve.
I have been working steadily and investing my money back into my music pursuit and each year gets better. Meeting new people, getting new opportunities and just enjoying the process.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I play guitar, drums, sing, bass, songwriter and composer. I am a people person.
I sincerely enjoy meeting others and engaging in their lives.
I am most proud of my first record where I recorded & tracked all of the parts on the songs (Seasick). Everything you hear I played, wrote and performed.
I am an all in one package, lol. I coordinate the events, business side of the music as well as play it and write it.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I really enjoy GuitarPro. It is a tablature/notation software that allows me to get all of my ideas into one place.
I also LOVE Hughes & Kettner guitar amplifiers. Their apps on the app store allow me to dial in the sounds that you hear on the records. Programmable tube amps. What’s not to love. And they look badass with their blue LEDs
