Meet Gunel Alisgandarli

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gunel Alisgandarli.

Hi Gunel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
It all started in year 2000 when me and my family traveled to America. We lived there for a year; I was 10 years old then. Being able to experience life and education in USA, I promised myself that I will study, live and prosper in USA. I felt that I belonged in here. But unfortunately, due to some circumstances, my wish did not realize very soon. I finished my bachelor’s degree In Azerbaijan and then started to work in my native country as an education manager of a global company. But I couldn’t forget my dream about living in USA. Of course, I already had a good career and an education in my native country but I couldn’t give up on my dream on living in USA. So, I seized an opportunity and moved to USA sacrificing what I gained till my 31 years.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth both physically and mentally. The difficulties were associated with the pandemic and its consequences and the restrictions associated with obtaining a visa, traveling, documentation, and more importantly, the separation of a person from his childhood, youth, environment, friends, and relatives. For a moment I thought my future depended on me or not? And I decided that I should be able to break free from it, without diminishing my past.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are living in liquid times, trying to stand on moving sands in a world that is full of unprecedented challenges. In my opinion to be able to face those challenges a person needs good education background in order to speak up and develop in specific spheres. I have been working as an Education manager for 10 years, assisting younger generation in their future education path. I am working for an education company-Mentora College Azerbaijan where I am counselling parents and students interactively giving the right directions in university and career choice. Can you imagine that I take all the responsibility of students’ future, It’s the most challenging part of this job. I call my job an honorable work and proudly move on.

Any big plans?
Oh, I have so many plans so many assignments to do that I set for myself for 2022. I am planning to learn Software at the same time I want to specialize in Project Management.
