Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Wade.
Hi Danielle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was initially introduced to shea butter by a previous hairdresser. To be transparent, I wasn’t a fan of raw shea butter, but I fell in love with it for my hair.
My hairdresser explained to me the benefits of it and that it could be used on the skin. She encouraged me to try to make it at home, but I’m NOT the one to try to make anything at home.
A few years later, I reconsidered the idea of shea butter and started researching the benefits and methods of making shea butter. After many years of research and trial and error, I became confident enough to share my creation with my family.
I was a little hesitant but felt the feedback would be great. Eventually, I started making whipped shea butter for those close to me. Working in hospitality and attending graduate school, I found little time to keep up with the demand of my co-workers.
Once the pandemic hit, I spoke with a friend who encouraged me to move forward with starting a business. I took the leap of faith and started Shea Lavish, LLC in 2020. I’ve been working silently and diligently to grow my business organically.
Starting a business has been a challenging, yet rewarding journey. I’m proud of myself for creating quality products that I believe in that can be shared with the world.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Wow… that journey has been challenging. Starting a business takes a lot of sacrifices, dedication, and perseverance. You are birthing an idea, starting from the ground up.
When I premiered Shea Lavish, LLC in 2020, there was so much that had started beforehand. I’ve spent countless hours designing, creating, and researching finding the perfect products that would bring my vision to life.
The market is filled with similar products, I wanted Shea Lavish, LLC to stand out. Making sure my legalities were in order, finding quality supplies, to portraying the luxurious vibes can be overwhelming.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I just completed my Master’s in Counseling in 2021. I’ve always had a passion to have my own counseling practice. I’m currently in the process of completing my post-graduate hours and obtaining my license in Professional Counseling.
I’m most proud of myself for following my dreams of starting Shea Lavish, LLC. This was something I was not familiar with, but I’m learning along the way. The journey has been a whirlwind of emotions.
There have been times I’ve been unsure of following through and wanted to give up. I’ve been angry, discouraged, and unmotivated. Those are the things many people don’t speak about when it comes to entrepreneurship.
Motivating myself to persevere through difficult times, and understanding that success doesn’t happen overnight. Through all of that, I continue to execute my ideas and take advantage of opportunities to invest and showcase Shea Lavish, LLC.
What sets me apart from others? Great question… people feel very comfortable speaking with me. Working in mental health, I can empathize with people and have a unique way of relating to everyone.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I can be very shy speaking in front of people.
Now, when it comes to professionally, I’m able to flip a switch and execute as needed. When it comes to speaking about my brand, internally, I’m nervous.
I have a quick pep talk with myself and then I’m able to speak very passionately about my brand.
