Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
When I had children, I wanted to investigate exactly what I was using on and around them regarding cleaning and personal products such as soap, shampoo, lotions, etc. I also developed severe eczema from the harsh products I used at my job as a nurse and home. It concerned me that many so-called natural products you buy at the store are not as natural as you think. It leads me to do lots of research into how to make some basic household products myself. I started with handsoap and then different kinds of butter with essential oils to help with my eczema. I couldn’t believe that just those simple changes made such a dramatic improvement! I started making some essential body butter, bath soaks, and lip butter for family and friends, and after a while, friends of friends would make requests-I’d do my homework-and word started spreading. It was at this time that my husband and I decided to learn about making our natural soaps. We started with a basic recipe and have, in two years, taken that into several different formulas that incorporate much more- such as hempseed, goat milk, activated charcoal, clays, extracts, essential and natural fragrance oils, etc. I had already gotten so much positive feedback that my husband and I took the leap and launched our website in 2020. We also do numerous community events in our local area, and so many people have reached out to us because they need a truly natural soap or cream without ingredients you can’t pronounce. It feels good to help others in this regard, and it has been an excellent experience for our family. We’re excited to continue expanding and growing in the coming years!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our biggest challenge has been getting our name out there. We have gained our following primarily through word of mouth, community events, and social media.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My husband and I make handcrafted all-natural soaps and other skincare products. I am proud of the time and research put into each serum, butter, a batch of soap, etc. We care about what we put into each product! Is it organic? Sustainable? Can we source it locally? Does it work? And then I try to make it eye-catching. We are very transparent with all our ingredients. We also collaborate with customers who want custom orders. On many levels, our soaps and products are set apart for these reasons.
