Today we’d like to introduce you to Bezo.
Hi Bezo, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always been into creative arts, even in elementary school I was in gifted & talented art programs. Consistently honing my talents I began designing logos & T-Shirts and during college, I got a job at a print shop mixing colors & printing. I worked there until I learned the art of tattooing & opened a small shop in Fredrick, MD (Liberty Tattoos) from 1997-2004. I had my 1st child in 2003 & also got a second job at NBC affiliate WBAL-TV 11 as a CG artist in Creative Services. Later I also worked for MOCC TV 25 as a freelance artist. I learned everything from set design to animating & working in Live Television Broadcast. My job was to connect 27 TV stations with a graphic bank stocked with safe graphics ready for air. After the Reality-Show Era, I decided to bow out of TV & follow my own path. That path led me here… so in 2010 I started the BEZO Show and began moving into fashion art, murals etc.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No such thing as a smooth road! Life is about overcoming obstacles, solving problems & learning from them. The hardest part about Art now, to me is that we have too much access & it’s hard to not be influenced by others & maintain your authentic originality. You gotta find your own road & stay focus on the drive…
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have a wide range of experience but focus on my brand at this point. The Bezo Show is a family-run & operated vehicle designed to sell art & health. We sell art & have compartments such as Blue Canary Agency which oversees the Art & curates Muses, Murals, Tattoo Tours, Pop-Up Shops & Gallery Exhibitions. We also sell Health Products such as Seamoss, Black Seed Oil, Natural Soaps & Skin products. My wife Melanie, runs the Blue Canary Sector and handles bookings. I also have 5 children. One in College at PITT, the other 4 are completely home-schooled & also create products for sale.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risks are part of testing the inner-self, overcoming fears and insecurities! If you don’t take them, you can’t elevate but some function on that plane. I’m not as much of a risk-taker at 45 but I’ve definitely bet on myself and won over & over in the past. Risks are harder to make with children but if I don’t get butterflies about a job then it’s usually not interesting or for me. I do turn down a lot of work but usually because of schedules & budgets.
