Meet Anna Ruggiero

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Ruggiero.

Hi Anna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?

At 17, I started my journey at a Paul Mitchell school. After that, I spent years in salons climbing tiers, and gaining experience.

Ready for more, I started an LLC, Opal Hair Studio, and opened up my doors in October 2021. Being in business for myself has given me the opportunity to grow as a stylist, and focus all of my attention into my clients.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?

Starting a business after a pandemic definitely  comes with its challenges. After almost four months of delays I finally moved into my space and hit the ground running, with no time to waste.

But it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I was working in toxic salon environments, fighting for promotions/recognition, and giving my all to a place that really didn’t want to see me succeed without them. Great things can happen when you step outside your comfort zone and take the leap!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Day to day, I do hair cuts, colors, and styling.

I don’t technically specialize in one area, I love having a wide variety of clients and styles in one day. one of my favorite things to do is big color transformations and giving someone their dream look. It’s just so satisfying. I think what would set me apart most would be my dedication.

I will do everything in my power to make sure you leave with not only great hair feeling great about yourself, and a positive vibe to take with you.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The city of Baltimore will always feel like home. it’s where we go to celebrate, to see friends.

What I like least would be the politicians. The schools are without AC. The violence. If they cared as much as the residents of our city we might see change.
