Life & Work with NAIS

Today we’d like to introduce you to NAIS.

Hi NAIS, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started writing when I was 12 years old.

I started doing poetry, I won a contest and since then my dad started shaping my poems into lyrics. I and his 3 other kids formed a group called “Royal Chaos” and that’s where I started developing as an artist.

Over time, I lost touch with music and focused on sports. Once I went to college in 2016, I started becoming active on campus. Entering competitions, doing ciphers, hosting events, and eventually networking with other on-campus artist.

I finally started to see my true talent and have been perfecting my craft ever since.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been everything BUT smooth. As an artist, you want your everyday life to just be 100% music but that’s not the case. It’s been times when I’ve lost my confidence, my identity, and my mind.

With personal obstacles like that, it’s hard to focus. I’ve had writer’s block, heartbreaks, and tragedies that just seemed more important than a song.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I create opportunities for myself. I’m never afraid to step or think outside of the box. I make music, I’m a hell of a performer and an overall influencer.

I know I can’t do everything but I like to think it’s possible if I put the proper effort behind it. I love supporting other people that do things better than me. I’m a walking brand ambassador for any black-owned brand. I’m known for making money, getting fly & unapologetically expressing myself.

What sets me apart from others is that I don’t mind being a follower even though I KNOW I’m a leader. I’m willing to go against the majority if it’s what I truly believe in. I also just feel like my sexuality & demeanor set me apart from many of my kind. I’m real. I’m authentic. I’m true to myself and what I believe

What does success mean to you?
By making decisions that result in happiness. Not doing “what’s right” but doing what’s right for “self”.
