Life & Work with Lemary

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lemary .

Hi Lemary, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I first started tapping into the art scene here in high school, from my friends right around me to knowing and becoming aware of other artists in the city as the internet started to bubble up more. I started releasing music more formally maybe a year after high school and worked with various brands and collectives in a booking, photography, and design capacity. Aside from own creative practices that vary in medium depending on my mood I facilitate and organize multiple creative platforms most currently Bollymore.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I feel like I’ve struggled most with finding spaces where I fit and learning to accept and utilize my own individual voice more.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I wouldn’t say that I specialize in one particular medium, so I think that is what I’m most known for and what separates me from others. My ability to pivot between mediums, while still having them feel like they came from one cohesive place.

I enjoy photography, music, design, directing, and creative direction equally.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice would be to find and surround yourself with truly like-minded people, a circle that can build up each other up, genuinely.

I would probably tell younger me to stop being scared
