Life & Work with Ko Rollins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ko Rollins.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
For as long as I could remember, I’ve been creative, from grade school turning ordinary school projects into 3D art installations to expressing myself through style and fashion.

I literally would remake my school uniform to fit my unique personality, so it wasn’t a surprise that event styling pretty much came to me naturally it was the year 2011 my junior year in high school, I was a teen mom to a soon-to-be 1-year-old.

I knew I wanted to give her a nice party but didn’t have the funds to hire a professional so I put my creative cap on and got to work, from custom food tags to centerpieces, even down to the balloon installs I pulled it off!

From there, family and friends would ask me to plan and style their events too at first it was just a hobby and eventually would turn into what we know today as Project Dekor!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Just like any road, there will be bumps and detours and my journey is no different.

From struggling to get my name out there in the event industry world to suffering from imposter syndrome, you name it! But no matter how many times I’m rerouted the only way to get to my destination is to KEEP GOING!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Project Dekor is a full service event styling company specializing in Bespoke Designs. We’re currently servicing the DMV  area with hopes to expand in the near future.

I consider myself “TheStylishEventStylist” because I want to make every project come to life using my fashion forward background alongside curated skills to showcase one of a kind experiences to each and every client I’m blessed to work with.

I must say I’m most proud of my authenticity and how I stay true to self no matter what! I truly believe that’s what sets me aside from others I prefer to stay outside of the box while everyone else plays hopscotch!

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
One thing I love best about Baltimore is the many creatives we have here this city is full of dope and go getter individuals and I’m proud to call this home!

The thing I least like is the misconception about Baltimore that we’re mostly known for the crime and poverty here when in reality we’re so much more than the negativity, there’s so much talent and hidden gems here just waiting to be found!
