Today we’d like to introduce you to Kennedy Ringgold.
Hi Kennedy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I’ve always had a love for art and luckily my mom has always encouraged and nurtured my passion. I was always in art camps and classes and in 2014, I attended MICA pre-college which led to me going on to get my bachelor of fine arts in 2019 from MICA as well.
My mom also helped me get my LLC. known as TRILLEXPRESSIONS LLC where I do a number of things including
Commissioned drawings and paintings, murals, live wedding paintings, and tattoos!
After college, I really started focusing on tattooing and was freelancing doing commission work, and then things were pretty stagnant during the pandemic.
But I managed to pick up my momentum and was blessed with numerous opportunities in 2021, I was able to be a part of an art exhibition at Aziz Gallery in LA, spring 2021 & more recently, I’ve really gotten into large mural work and just finished a ten foot mural at Indoviet restaurant in Highlandtown!
My largest mural yet will be covering 3 sides of a building in Washington, DC. And I plan on completing that this fall.
I’m really just glad I continue to get the opportunity to spread so much love and light with my work!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been easy and sometimes it still gets tough when there are so many things out of your control that life just hits you.
But I really try hard to persevere and stay consistent through all of my struggles because you can’t have success without failure.
It’s all a part of the journey to being great!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have my own business known as TRILLEXPRESSIONS LLC where I do a number of things including Commissioned drawings and paintings, murals, live wedding paintings, and tattoos!
I’d say I’m known for my art, I’ve had people come up to me in different cities and say “Hey you’re the artist that painted this!” Or “Are you trill expressions?” And it’s so funny and sometimes I feel weird that people recognize me! But I’ve gained a pretty large following on Instagram over the years from posting my art, music & tattoos. And as of recent my mural work.
I am most proud of the impact I’ve made on people who experience my artwork. Whether it be a tattoo or they see my art in a show, or online I’m proud to be able to create and share my gifts in so many ways that make so many different people feel good.
