Life & Work with Good News Threads of Laurel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Good News Threads. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Good News Threads was founded by Jewel and Alyssa and determined to deliver style to shoppers worldwide to ease the hard times experienced during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic. We began bleaching and distressing shirts that we thrifted in our parent’s backyards in 2020 while we were quarantined together. Quickly, our followers on Instagram began asking about the shirts we were doing, so we began selling them on Instagram. Soon after our first sales, we created an Instagram for our clothes, and the following is still growing. We have since created a website, a WhatNot, multiple social media platforms, and an LLC. We attend multiple pop-up shops and flea markets during the month, where we sell our bleached and distressed apparel and accessories. We are currently exploring creating a creative and expressive hub which will include throwing events, managing musical artists in the area, and offering creative assistance with productions.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This journey has been very smooth. The support of family and friends has made this journey special.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are both Government workers. Jewel is a contractor for DoD and Alyssa is a patent examiner at the USPTO. Jewel also is a musical artist, and her music can be found on all streaming platforms.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
Jewel’s favorite childhood memory was the songs her mom used to make up for her and sing with her. She thinks that’s why she has such a love for music now. Alyssa’s favorite childhood memory was all of her themed birthday parties when she was a little kid.
