Life & Work with CopyRyte

Today we’d like to introduce you to CopyRyte.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Growing up, I was the only son of a single mom of 4. I watched my mom hustle every day from sunrise to sunset. She always made sure we had all the essentials. Clothes, food, lights, water, and whatever else that was needed. She taught me to always go hard for what I wanted. At the age of 17, my mom was murdered by her husband. It was very hard to cope with. She was all I had. At the age of 20, I had my first-born son. At that moment, I realized I had to do everything necessary for him. I became a man of many hats. A hip-hop artist, graphic designer, chef, a DJ, and more. My mom was my role model and she paved the way to show me I don’t need to work for someone when I could make a way for myself.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was never a smooth road. After my mom passed. I moved in with my father. Someone I never had a real relationship with. Trying to finish high school with a tragic death like that. Then having my firstborn at the age of 20 years old was something I wasn’t ready for but I wouldn’t change that. It molded me into a more mature person. I got married in 2015 but just recently got divorced in 2021. So, 2 kids, a boy and a girl, single father hustling through all my own connects. I stay busy.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I would say between being a Hip-hop artist and also a DJ is what I have been known for. I travel a lot and do a lot of features with some higher-tier artists plus my creativity on my music videos draws a lot of attention. I learned how to DJ when I was home quarantining after I caught covid the first time. Now I DJ at least twice a week.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I learned the motto YOLO (You Only Live Once) does not exist… WE LIVE EVERY DAY… We die once so make it count.
