Life & Work with Bre Lang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bre Lang.

Hi Bre, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I always wanted to work in production since I was younger. It started out as me wanting to be on Disney Channel but was too shy. Then I thought to myself, maybe I could start behind the scenes. Now that I actually work in production, I love it & have no desire to be on TV.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’ve definitely overcome obstacles & continue to do so every day. Growing up in a city like Baltimore, gun violence is one of the first obstacles you’re introduced to. And after becoming a victim of gun violence on multiple occasions, you feel like your road becomes even more difficult not just from a physical standpoint, but a mental standpoint as well. However, carrying that into entrepreneurship was like fueling gas to a car, it kept me going.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I do video production, but I specialize in capturing & bringing moments to life. It’s more than just putting clips together for me. It’s more so creating a moment that people get to relive as many times as they want to. I also started my own web series called ‘Behind the Brand: Baltimore’. I’m in the process of finishing the second episode. It’s about what entrepreneurs go through behind the scenes to get to where they are now. Knowing that my work brings people happiness is what I’m most proud of. The fact that people even believe in my vision is another thing I am also proud of. I believe my creativity & my ability to be myself sets me apart from others. No one else can be me.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk-taking is a major key in any field that you’re in. I believe playing it safe won’t get you too far. My first time taking a major risk was quitting my 9-5 of five years. After I graduated with my Bachelor’s from Morgan State University, I quit my day job with no plan. Now that’s a MAJOR RISK. I just took a leap of faith right into entrepreneurship. It’s not easy, but the journey itself can take you far if you put yourself in position. The bigger the risk, the bigger the reward!
