Today we’d like to introduce you to ALEX CHERNOFF.
Hi ALEX, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in the family business, learning from his father. Now, 42 years later, he runs an optical studio focused on helping customers look and feel great. “I have a vested interest in making sure my customers get glasses that bring out the absolute best in them,” he says. “Customers come to me looking for the same transformation they noticed on someone else—a refreshed, modern look. Glasses can do that. Glasses are incredible.” I’m passionate about quality and craftsmanship. Eye to Eye carries more than 5,000 unique frames from all over the world and brands like Chopard and Porsche Design, just to name a few. Frames can be fitted with high-end lenses meticulously finished in the in-store lab. Come see why Eye to Eye is where doctors often refer patients with complex prescriptions and why the store is frequently recognized among Baltimore’s best.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve been in this business since I was 11 years old, working alongside my parents and learning the craft from the ground up. I consider myself lucky to have fallen into a profession I genuinely love and have a deep passion for. I’ve always loved people, and there’s nothing more rewarding than transforming someone’s look with the right pair of glasses. Helping them see—and be seen—at their best is something I truly enjoy.
My only real frustration is seeing ill‑fitting glasses everywhere I go. It’s a reminder of why I care so much about what I do and why proper fit matters.
Outside the shop, I’m into golf and pickleball, though I grew up playing soccer for most of my younger years. Sports have always been part of my life, and they’ve taught me the same thing this business has: stay focused, stay passionate, and always bring your best.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
