Inspiring Conversations with Vered Asta of Vela Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vered Asta.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My passion for events and celebrations started at a young age. My early exposure to a family-owned event decor company allowed me to recognize the importance of one-of-a-kind events and has inspired me to shape flawless events and build lasting relationships with my clients. For several years I worked internally for a nonprofit and planned everything from intimate leadership gatherings to galas for over 500 attendees in venues such as the National Building Museum, the Ronald Reagan Building, and the National Press Club. In 2016 we launched Vela Events to work with a range of clients on their personal or professional events. Currently, we plan many weddings and Bar and Bat Mitzvahs that vary in size and location and remain unique to each client. Our number one goal is to ensure that every client has the chance to enjoy their event and help to make the planning process is as easy as possible.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Part of the reason many people hire an event planner is for their connection and relationships with other event vendors and finding the right fit for their event. For someone just starting out, this can be a challenge. I spent a lot of time at the beginning of building Vela Events researching vendors in various categories to find the right fit for my clients, connecting with those vendors, and adding them to my rolodex. I strive to maintain positive relationships with the vendors I work with and continue to work with them whenever I can.

Vela Events provides a custom plan to meet every client’s needs. We work with our clients to define their vision and style for their special events. We ensure that their vision becomes a reality through a stress-free planning process.

We are a boutique, full-service event planning company. Whether it’s an intimate gathering or an elaborate celebration, we provide personalized service for every client, creating exceptional events. We work with our clients at various stages in the planning process from idea conception to day-of coordination.

We strive to meet our clients where they are, and hone in on what they need in the planning process, and ultimately ensure they will be able to enjoy their event.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I often listen to Dax Shepard’s podcast Arm Chair Expert, their sub podcast, Experts on Expert is particularly interesting to me. I also love listening to the founder stories of the guests on “How I Built This with Guy Raz”.
