Inspiring Conversations with Kimberley Moore of My Purpose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberley Moore.

Hi Kimberley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My passion has always been to help people from a very young age. I’ve always wanted to do something that would benefit our community by helping individuals living in property, hopelessness, violence, and crime. Once I realized who I was and what my purpose in this life was, I was ready.

I realize I am a servant of the people. My Purpose is to give people the tools to help them discover their purpose, to be positive, productive individuals in their family, community, children, and friends lives. This has been a long journey. I know some people say God does things for a season, but I believe God put people in our lives for a reason, and it’s up to us to discover what that reason is.

My partner Tara was my colleague and now she’s my best friend, my sister, my family and my business partner. Tara and I share the same purpose: we enjoy seeing individuals realize where there was hopelessness, they now have hope where there was disbelief; they now believe they can; where there was weakness; they now have power. Where there was a lack of understanding, they have knowledge, where there were no plans, they now have direction to a plan. It’s imperative that we give each individual that walk-through doors of My Purpose the blueprint to their purpose,

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
No, it’s been hard. I had to learn by myself. I had to accept who I am; I had to love myself, have a different perspective on life, strip away all my thoughts, and accept people for who they are.

While I was learning to accept people for who they are. I also learned to accept myself for who I am and that I am good enough. It has also been hard. I lost my mother on November 10, 2020; My mother was my best friend. I shared everything with her, all the good and all the bad. It was nothing my mother told me I could not do; she was so very proud of me.

I can say this Kimmie from the boogie down the Bronx, came to Maryland working in Baltimore city, and has made an impact on the residents’ lives and the community I serve. I’ve built partnerships with Mayors of Baltimore City, politicians, community leaders and store owners.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about My Purpose?
My purpose is an organization that works with returning citizens and individuals that are in need of supportive employment. We do job readiness; we offer mental health, substance abuse, and wraparound services. When our clients come through My Purpose’s doors, it’s important that they feel the love and support.

I love what I do at my program because we don’t tell them what to do, My Purpose give our clients the tools to help them be successful; keeping in mind we know at times, they are going to fall, and that’s ok.

My Purpose teach our clients self-encouragement is powerful, believing in themselves, believing there is nothing they cannot do, and anything is possible.

My Purpose teach our clients even when it looks like the hallway is narrow and obstacles are coming your way, you must keep pushing through. You must keep at it and never give up. My purpose is like no other program in Baltimore city or the United States. My Purpose is made of love, commitment and never giving up on our clients!!!

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Yes, I always have to be prepared that anything can happen.
