Inspiring Conversations with Jalisa Hardy of Jalisa Ray International

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalisa Hardy.

Hi Jalisa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I was born into dysfunction and chaos. I had to learn early on that in the midst of chaos, abuse, and trauma to function in the dysfunction. I managed to excel in school, in organizations, church, jobs, building businesses, and more all while maintaining dysfunctional relationships with intimate partners, family, and friends. I was able to compartmentalize and disassociate from the dysfunction. It’s as if I were two different people in one body. Some knew the dysfunctional version of me, others knew the high functioning achiever, and very few knew both. It took until I was grown to realize what was going on. I decided to take responsibility for my life, reconciling these two parts of myself. I started going to therapy in college which was a taboo in my family. It opened my mind to the deeper issues that I needed to heal from.

After some years of therapy and more functioning in dysfunction, in and out of toxic relationships, starting and stopping different businesses, obtaining different degrees, certifications, and titles, and working with different therapists, coaches, mentors, partners, I wrote my first book which turned a trickling faucet of healing into a wide-open fire hydrant of healing. The title of my debut book is, “It’s All in Me! – My Journey to Freedom & Living Abundantly”. By doing the work and sharing my journey to true healing, I realized I had a gift. A gift to be a resource of healing to those that had similar needs to heal that I had/have. By becoming who I am today despite all that I had been through I knew I had something to offer the world. This was how I became known as “The Holistic Health Plug” a board-certified Holistic Health Practitioner.

Healing is a lifelong journey, so as I support others on this journey, I continue mine. I am learning from my clients and customers as much as they are learning from me. It has been challenging to build a profitable and sustainable business as a full-time stay-at-home newly single mom of 3 under 3. Being connected to a support system and being introduced to organizations like Voyage Baltimore have made life so much easier and have encouraged me to keep going to make the impact I desire.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
If someone tells you that their road to business has been smooth, I’d go out on a limb to say 99% of the time they are lying. Building a business as a first-generation business owner has not been a smooth road at all. Some of my struggles along the way have been allowing life to get in the way of and in some cases stop my business, trying to figure out what to do in my business as far as what products and/or services to offer, overcoming rejection, shifting from an employee to an entrepreneur mindset, and failing because I always tried to do everything on my own to name a few.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Jalisa Ray International LLC?
I started Jalisa Ray International, LLC in February of 2018 after self-publishing my first book and seeing more success with it than any other business endeavor I had ever done before. I am a board-certified Holistic Health Practitioner that works with BIPOC women in individual and group settings through my book, coaching, monthly workshops, providing access to holistic health resources, and speaking on different platforms and events. I am known as “The Holistic Health Plug” because of the access to holistic health resources, tips, tools, and other holistic health practitioners I provide to those that I come in contact with.

My journey and my willingness to be open and transparent with others about it are what sets me apart from others. In addition to an experience with me as a coach where we go through the workbook I created and clients are able to walk away with a unique self-healing plan that is for their specific needs. I do not provide a blanket solution even in group settings. I build relationships with my clients as a whole person, not just a body. We work to heal our spirit, soul, and body.

Brand wise I am most proud of its resilience and ability to pivot and make adjustments when needed. I am my brand, so as I grow, evolve, and change so does my business. I want your readers to know that my brand is a work in progress. Where we are today will not be where we are 3 months, 6 months, a year from now.

My schedule is open for clients looking for support on their holistic health journey in group settings. We start with an individual initial consultation so we can discuss how I can support them and what resources I can share with them along the way. I use technology and analysis tools like Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, Zyto Scans, and other tox screening tools. The analysis tools and tests that I use provide specific protocols for each individual client that includes organic superfoods, high-grade vitamin and mineral supplements, and detox protocols.

I am on a mission to provide global access for BIPOC women to holistic health resources that take them from heavy burdens to healthy boundaries, allowing them to live a holistically healthy lifestyle and prioritize their purpose. If this resonates with you feel free to reach out to me via Instagram @theholistichealthplug, schedule a complimentary discovery call with me via my website flowpage.com/jalisahardy, or email me hello@jalisahardy.com.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I learned along my journey is that it takes a team to build a successful and profitable business. It is a team sport!
