Inspiring Conversations with Devante Barnes of BarNez Junk Removal

Today we’d like to introduce you to Devante Barnes.

Hi Devante, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
On August 4, 2019 my mom Iris Barnes passed away on. In an instant, my whole world came to a hault. I felt that the only person who loved me unconditionally my entire life was now gone. I was only 25 at the time and for the first time, I felt completely alone. Over the next several years from 2019 – Jan 2021, I used toxic/bad relationships unintendedly to fill that void that my mom left. Which ultimately led to me getting kickout on the street and almost becoming homeless. I was so fed up with being unhappy that I was willing to live in my truck than spend another day being miserable. So I left the home which I was living with my ex and moved in with my grandmother.

One day I sitting in my truck and I have about $12 to my name and I’m praying for an idea to make some gas money and ultimately thats how it all started, and we’ve been growing everyday since.

Currently, we are in the scaling phase of our business. We are looking to bring on more equipment and adding another truck to continue and enhance the quality of our work.

My vision is to help my community by providing a budget-friendly service that everybody can use. My purpose is to serve people in the way that I would want to be served and to be great always whether the light is on you or not. I’m a firm believer that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road so fat I’ve had some troubling times most of all losing my mother from totaling my car in an accident. Being so broke that I couldn’t even get money from the atm. But I realized that the more I face, the stronger I become and that’s what keeps my faith so strong.

As you know, we’re big fans of BarNez Junk Removal. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
