Inspiring Conversations with DeAnne Brookshire of Pink Leaf Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAnne Brookshire.

Hi DeAnne, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Throughout my career, I found myself forced to teach myself the necessary skills to be successful and meet my employer’s needs. This often left me feeling overwhelmed and overworked. This fueled my desire to properly train and teach others, but it was actually my last position as a Director of Sales & Marketing that I had the opportunity to work directly with many small businesses and then it became clear what my assignment was.

I often found that many businesses lacked customer service, processes, marketing skills, and other baseline business skills that would be required to be successful. I began hosting small business pow wow and round tables to answer business questions on a monthly basis, and from this Pink Leaf Consulting was birthed.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The road hasn’t been exactly smooth, but I have to admit those 26 years of self-taught skills have absolutely come in handy when I didn’t have a big box brand backing me with marketing. I’d say transitioning to “online only” services was a bit of a challenge as all of my work has been face to face, but once I did the work to discover who “Pink Leaf Consulting is as a brand and did the work to find my target audience, Things are growing steadily and organically.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pink Leaf Consulting?
Pink Leaf Consulting is a Baltimore-based business development firm that helps small business owners grow by identifying the gaps in their business through refining their processes, defining their target audience and helping them create marketing strategies to increase visibility.

We work with our customers in a 1 to 1 capacity or in a group coaching setting to meet these needs.

What sets Pink Leaf apart from our competitors is that our brand is backed with 26 years of sales, marketing & hospitality experience, so we understand what it means to put our customers first by serving them and giving 150 % every time.

We are most proud of the level of service that we provide by actually getting to know our clients and customizing our program were required to truly deliver what they need, whether they’re aware or not.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice for networking is have a strategy know why you’re attending and set a goal for how long you’d like to stay and how many meaningful connections you’d like to make, ultimately, network with intention this is especially important as an ambivert whose introvert side doesn’t like large crowds for extended periods of time.
