Inspiring Conversations with Aryana Ahsan of Boards and Bows

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aryana Ahsan.

Hi Aryana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Aryana Ahsan, and I am the founder, owner, and curator of Boards and Bows. Since becoming a wife and a mother, my love for hosting and bringing people together through food blossomed like never before, and I thought what better way to do so than by creating beautiful charcuterie boards that provide a great centerpiece for everyone to gather around! In August 2021, I decided to go from being a stay-at-home mom to a Small Business Mom and create Boards and Bows. The rest is history!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I had just moved to Maryland from New York in August 2021 when I decided I wanted to start my small business. However, starting a business in a new state where you have no friends or connections was extremely difficult. I decided I needed to come out of my comfort zone and put myself in the community. I began registering as a vendor at different events, collaborated with local small businesses, and joined local mom Instagram groups. All these helped my business tremendously and allowed me to form connections with those in the community.

As you know, we’re big fans of Boards and Bows. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
We offer delicious and full-flavored charcuterie boards, boxes, and tables at Boards and Bows. Our products help create an exceptional experience for any event; whether it’s a wedding or a little pick-me-up for a friend, we’ve got you covered! I am very particular about the standards of our products and am always committed to using the finest ingredients and thoughtfully curating them in the best possible way on every board. I am all about bringing people together and creating art they can eat while making every occasion special, unique and memorable! Many clients don’t know this, but Boards and Bows is a one-woman show! I’m in charge of curating each board, delivery, marketing, inventory, and customer service, and I do it all!

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was always in the kitchen with my mom. I loved watching her cook and was always amazed by how great of a hostess she was! I thought I could never be like her because I was a very shy child until my teen years. I would’ve never thought that years later, people would be asking me to create grazing tables and charcuterie boards for them to help celebrate so many different special occasions!
