Inspiring Conversations with Ani Gafafyan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ani Gafafyan.

Hi Ani, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always loved playing with hair as a little girl, but my parents didn’t want me to pursue that as a career because it wasn’t a “‘valued career’’ I married the love of my life at 17 and by 20, I already had two babies. My husband supported my dreams and pushed me to go to beauty school.

After I got my cosmetology license at 22, I got an assisting job at an upscale salon in West Hollywood, where after a year, I got my own chair. I built my clientele base and was very successful.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was the best choice I made and loved doing what I was doing. It wasn’t a job it was dream come true. The ride was smooth and fun.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My salon is a full-service beauty salon where we do everything from A to Z. We specialise in bridal services. I myself am a colourist specialising in blondes. We’re also opening a cafe inside the salon.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We love helping the local schools and always help the less fortunate students during prom and graduation by doing their hair and make-up completely. We would love to collaborate with anyone in any industry to help and support each other’s small business.
