Hidden Gems: Meet Tiaja Gresham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiaja Gresham.

Hi Tiaja, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Tiaja Gresham and I’m a licensed Realtor in the state of Maryland. I currently work under Harris Hawkins and Co. which is a black and women owned Real Estate brokerage in Baltimore.

I was introduced to Real Estate at a very young age. My father had a business flipping houses in Baltimore. On the weekends, I would often visit his homesites with him. I was always so intrigued by the process. To see distressed homes, turn into something so beautiful amazed me. It was a way to create wealth and legacy by homeownership for people in underserved communities. This is what sparked my interest in the industry.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Since beginning my career as a Real Estate Agent, I have faced many challenges. There is so much to learn as a new agent and being a dual career agent; I must be very intentional with my time. It takes a lot of organization and a great support system.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My goal as a Real Estate Agent is to help people who may have thought Home Ownership was unattainable for them see that it is not!  Education is the first step, and that is what I am here for. To educate future homeowners on the process and guide them through any road bumps along the way. Home Ownership is great way to build generational wealth and create a legacy for your family and community. If I can help families to create that legacy, then I am fulfilled

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
As a child, I was always very inquisitive. I asked a lot of questions and always wanted to know the why’s and how’s. In school, I was often the child being moved to a new seat because I talked too much and could make friends with anybody. Although I use to get in trouble for it, that has served me well in my career. Building relationships is a major part of what I do every day.
