Hidden Gems: Meet Mike Hudson of Clean Cars by Hudson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Hudson.

Hi Mike, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For the past five years, I’ve been bouncing around from body shop to body shop to eventually finding myself at a mechanical shop. During these five years, I moved from Baltimore to Taneytown, MD. So all of my contacts and friends were an hour drive away from me. While working at the mechanical shop, I was contacted by a commercial body shop who offered me more money, better work environment. It was gonna be awesome, I put my two weeks in and worked my two weeks. Then covid 19 struck Maryland. I went to deliver my tools to this body shop and the manager informed me that I wasn’t being hired. I was supposed to be “contacted” but wasn’t. So there I was no job, I couldn’t go back to my old shop bc of covid. Everything closed, so I delivered my tool boxes back to my house in Taneytown. I lived the unemployment life while covid was doing what it did. Well like many others eventually, it was time to get back to work also my unemployment started messing up and I couldn’t afford to wait. My car payment was due and I panicked. My wife had bought me a vacuum to clean my car for my bday and I went out to my car and cleaned my car as it’s therapeutic to me. Well, I started to wonder if someone would pay me to clean their car. I posted to Facebook asking if anyone would be interested in having their cars cleaned. 12 hours later, I had a weeks worth of work waiting for me. At that point, I took the ball and ran with it…

I’d realized all the networking with people I’ve done in my life has built up to this. I grew up poor, so figuring things out and making them work is something I’ve had to do since childhood. I changed my perspective on life and how I live it. I have confidence in what I do.

I owe the push to my wife as she inspires me more than ever.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been tough bc I’ve had to learn not only my job but how to run a business. Fortunately, my customers have been so amazing and inviting.

I’m a mobile car detailer. I come to you, and clean your car at your home. I come highly recommended by many all throughout Maryland, Pennsylvania area.
