Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Parker.
Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
I started in the real estate industry as an intern; I interned for a real estate development company, Akridge as an administrative intern; It was my first gig in the corporate industry. After this internship, my family and I moved to a new neighborhood in MD, where there was a dominant agent farming in this neighborhood. I reached out to her to see if I could ask her a couple of questions about day-to-day agent life, general real estate questions, etc., and was hired on the spot! During that time, I was her assistant and transaction coordinator, where I helped her with day-to-day admin, marketing, and transaction tasks, all while I was in high school at Archbishop Spalding. Upon leaving her, I decided to get my real estate license and develop my business book while entering my first year at St John’s University. I was fortunate enough to have parents to support my passion as a part-time agent, who would do the showings for me while making the contracts. This is where I truly fell in love with contracts, agreements, and negotiations. It ultimately helped lead me to get a degree in Finance and Law. From there, the rest has been history; starting a team, moving to an outstanding brokerage, and continuing my studies by applying to law school for real estate & commercial business law.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, no, no! Especially working with family, no! There were many times I’d throw in the towel ‘for good’ – but that only lasted a couple of hours. I’d get excited about what my colleagues had sold, a conversation I had with a client, or just becoming aware of new off-market projects/deals and developments starting. It’s hard to focus on yourself when you’re working in an office with top producers and big teams – it’s almost like their celebrities, at least that’s how I felt. But seeing how much business they had compared to what I had was the biggest struggle I had starting, and that’s what made the road bumpy, but it also motivated me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know? What should we know?
You should know that we love contracts, negotiations, and our clients! We love a challenge, we love to think outside the box, and we love to have fun doing it.
What do you specialize in / what are you known for?
We specialize in residential and multifamily real estate. We’re truly known for ‘hand-holding’ our clients, ensuring we’re offering the best real estate expertise while not sugarcoating things.
What sets you apart from others?
We eat, breathe, and sleep contract! Contracts are our name of the game – discussing and advising our clients but putting this advisement on paper and employing it keeps us excited!
What are you most proud of brand-wise?
Integrity – keeping our promise, always understanding the players in the game, and keeping those players accountable.
What do you want our readers to know about your brand, offerings, services, etc.?
Having an agent that is willing to offer non-sugar-coated advisements is what you should be looking for. Find out what your agent knows about contracts because that’s what protects you most; find out about their negotiation style and how they can best help you.
Is something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
I am a huge CrossFit junk – I love functional fitness under immense pressure. I like having my CrossFit team develop and execute a plan and seeing how we communicate and change things as we move along during our workout. I am a sucker for great music, especially if it’s indies, indies R&B, or psychedelic rock. I’m telling you my age here, but I wish I had grown up during the ’60s because the music from the 60s-80s was just great. Despite the DC/Baltimore Area being in my heart, NYC is the love of my life attending undergrad, and there was the best decision I could’ve made (outside of impulse buying a Jeep or rescuing my dog). I love the water – anything – from boating, jet skiing, and paddle boarding to just sitting out and watching the water in the sun – I love it!
