Hidden Gems: Meet Dontrell Ford of Trell Maurice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dontrell Ford.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a proud Dad and 17-year active-duty U.S. Air Force member, who happens to be into fashion, so much so, that I started a whole brand!

Both of my parents were born and raised in West and Northwest Baltimore. My pop joined the Air Force at 20 years old and I followed in his footsteps.

I always enjoyed being fly and standing out. Additionally, giving back to the community and helping those in need has also been a passion. These two interests birthed Trell Maurice LLC.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Self-doubt and negative thinking will always be one’s Achilles heel if you will.

Others may have imposter syndrome as well. Notwithstanding, believing in myself and my product is what keeps me from overcoming the challenge of self-doubt.

Business-wise, it is all about trial and error. I am still in the nascent stages of my business, therefore, I am strongly in the phase, yet still enjoying the journey.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Trell Maurice LLC?
The Trell Maurice brand is all about doing good and dressing fly, hence the tagline, Do Good & Stay Fly!

So far we have been able to help feed over 1,000 children through the No Kid Hungry initiative and plan to do much more. A portion of all proceeds from Trell Maurice goes towards charity.

At the same time, the Trell Maurice gear is dope! It really is a win-win for all consumers.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Perseverance & consistency.
