Hidden Gems: Meet Danielle Greene of Passport Seven

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Greene.

Hi Danielle, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Passport Seven Home Décor & Candle Co. LLC is a company that inspires “wanderlust and modish living” via sustainable, hand-made quality products. Our brand can be described as an abstract view of the world shaped by travelers in motion. Passport Seven provides high-quality candles and home accessories while presenting customers with value that cannot be found with larger, more widespread companies. Each candle is handmade and uses all-natural compositions, quality wicks, unique fragrances, and exceptional packaging. In particular, Passport Seven candles are soy-based, which offers a cleaner-burning option, whereas traditional candles, when lit, emit toxins into the air that can be harmful.

In the spring of 2010, I graduated from my graduate program in Geography and Urban Studies from Temple University. The temporary position I had through school was unable to keep me as a permanent employee, so I ultimately had to leave Philadelphia and move back home to Baltimore, MD. While living at home with minimal financial obligations, I decided to use the time to travel the world and find a hobby. That hobby became candle-making. My love for home décor manufactured my interest in candle making. I figured candles were essential in any home. My experiences traveling and my candle-making hobby was a perfect match and therefore birthed Passport Seven Home Décor & Candle Co. LLC.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running a business has not been easy but it has been rewarding. We struggled in the past with reaching a larger customer base and gaining funding. However, in the last year, our business has grown. We were blessed enough for the Pandemic not to negatively affect our business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Passport Seven?
Passport Seven is a company that inspires “wanderlust and modish living” via sustainable, hand-made quality products. Our brand can be described as an abstract view of the world shaped by travelers in motion. In other words, I created the brand to evoke travel and because I loved everything home décor.

The value of the available products is affordable, allowing Passport Seven to provide a more unique and personal shopping experience. Candles have always been a statement in my home. They represent calmness, relaxation and they allow my mind to wander. If you couldn’t already tell by the company name, I also have a deep passion for travel. Working a 9-5 hasn’t afforded me the time to travel as often. I figured I could collide two passions and thus created this brand. I dub my customers “travelers” because we are all on a journey of some sort. So, my hope when a traveler burns our candles is that it evokes travel and calmness in a world that is constantly in motion.

Currently, what we are most proud of is giving people the opportunity to mentally travel without leaving their homes. In the last year, due to the pandemic being stuck in the house, Passport Seven was able to mentally transport our Travelers to a new destination through our candles.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Passport Seven is for your everyday candle lover who also loves to travel and has yet to see the world. We hope to see you all in a big box store soon.
